At issue: Senator Massa's town hall meeting - Youth have much to fear

(Democrat and Chronicle's print edition: "Letters to the Editor" section)

On Wednesday night, I witnessed a great display of democracy and capitalist pride, as hundreds of disgruntled Americans packed the auditorium at Victor High School to voice their concerns about the proposed health care plan. However, the White House recently predicted a 10-year federal deficit of $9 trillion, and that number will only grow larger if Congress passes massive health reform.

But who is going to end up paying for this? Younger generations. What makes me worry is that it seems like many young adults and teenagers don't really care about what's happening in Washington. In fact, there were only a handful of them at the town meeting Wednesday.

Wake up, because we are going to be inheriting these problems soon; unless, of course, we fix them now. Just because we don't pay taxes or vote doesn't mean that health care reform holds no personal gravity.
